How to add occupation and education to a genogram
Work and schooling go in the Life & Career section. The current occupation and education level can be written on the chart; the job and education history is kept in the panel for your records.
Works the same on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Step by step
- 1
Select the person
Open your genogram and tap the person (click on Mac). Their details panel opens: on the right on iPad and Mac, sliding up from the bottom on iPhone.
- 2
Open Life & Career
Tap Life & Career (the briefcase icon). On iPhone, tap the Career chip.
- 3
Add the occupation
Type the current or main occupation, and optionally the years in From and To. It appears on the chart as “Teacher (1998–2004)”. Tap + next to Occupation History to record earlier jobs with employer and dates.

- 4
Add education
Type the qualification under Education and choose an Education Level, from No formal education to Doctorate (PhD) or Professional degree. Tap + next to Education History to list degrees and institutions.
- 5
Show it on the chart
Tap Text Labels (the tag icon) in the toolbar and turn on Occupation, Education or Education Level. Education Level also adds a small badge (for example BA or PhD) to the corner of the symbol.
