Rebuilt for the phone, not shrunk to fit
A genogram is a wide, dense diagram. Scaling an iPad layout down to 390 points would have produced something you could look at but not work in. So the editor chrome was rebuilt.
A toolbar that changes with what you are doing
The bottom bar shows creation tools when nothing is selected and actions when someone is. Tools sit in a horizontally scrolling track so the full set is always reachable, and overflow is pinned outside the scroll — you never have to scroll to find it.
An inspector that does not swallow the canvas
Tap Edit and the detail form rises as a sheet that stops at a peek, so the person you tapped and their quick actions stay on screen. Drag it up when you want the full form, and it drops back to the peek the moment you select someone else.
Tap a person and the canvas comes to them
Selecting someone glides the canvas so they land in the band still visible above the inspector, at a zoom level where names and ages are readable. If you are already zoomed in close, it leaves your zoom alone.
Opens already framed on your family
A document opens fitted to the people in it rather than at whatever viewport you left. And when a tree is too wide to fit legibly on a phone, it opens at a readable scale centred on the index person instead of zoomed out to nothing.
Six quick actions, orbiting whoever you tapped
Select a person and six coloured actions appear around them. Building out a generation is a tap on the person and a tap on the action — no menus, no toolbar hunting, and they stay reachable while the inspector sits at its peek.
Nothing was left on the iPad
Plenty of apps ship a phone build that can open a document but not finish one. This is the same editor, and the same file, with a different set of controls around it.

A phone in a family's living room is a privacy question
Genograms are stored locally in the app on your device. There is no account, no server, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs — nothing in the app calls out to the network. If you turn on iCloud Drive for the Files app, that sync is between you and Apple; we never see it. Read the privacy policy.

Is the iPhone version cut down compared to the iPad app?
No. The editor chrome was rebuilt for a phone, but nothing was removed: the same 100+ clinical symbols, the same relationship and emotional line types, the same templates, the same undo history, and every export. It is the same document model, not a viewer.
How do you actually edit a genogram on a phone screen?
Three things do most of the work. A bottom toolbar that changes with context — creation tools when nothing is selected, actions when someone is. An inspector that opens as a pull-up peek instead of covering the canvas. And tapping a person brings the canvas to them, so you never hunt for who you just tapped.
Can I export from the iPhone app?
Yes — all of them. PNG, PDF, SVG, GEDCOM, JSON, and the Family Report are all in the iPhone menu, with no device gating. Printing goes through the system share sheet, so AirPrint shows up as a destination.
