How to choose which details appear on a genogram
Everything you enter is kept, but you decide what is drawn. Views turn whole layers of the chart on or off, and Text Labels choose which details are written under each name.
Works the same on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Step by step
- 1
Turn layers on or off with Views
To open Views, tap Views (the layers button in the toolbar on iPad and Mac, or the More tools menu (…) on iPhone). Each view controls one layer: Cultural (heritage patterns’ text), Medical (shading and notes), Social (class scale), Religion (badges), Location (flags), Custom (color tints), Emotional (relationship lines), Family Groups and Backgrounds. All but Family Groups are on by default.
- 2
Choose text under each name with Text Labels
Tap Text Labels (the tag icon) and turn on the details you want: Name, Age, Dates, Birth Place, Death, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Heritage, Medical, Occupation, Education, Education Level, Social Class, Religion, Location, Attributes or Notes.
- 3
Place the age
In Text Labels, Age Position puts the age inside the symbol or below it.

Tips
Sharing with a family
Turn off Medical and Notes before exporting a copy for a client or family. Nothing is deleted; turn them back on when you need them.
