How to add notes to a person on a genogram
Each person has a Notes section for free text, plus Attributes: short tags such as “caregiver” or “veteran”. Notes stay in the panel unless you choose to show them.
Works the same on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Step by step
- 1
Select the person
Open your genogram and tap the person (click on Mac). Their details panel opens: on the right on iPad and Mac, sliding up from the bottom on iPhone.
- 2
Open Notes and type
Tap Notes (the speech bubble icon) and type. Under Attributes, tap + to add a short tag; tap × on a tag to remove it.

- 3
Show them on the chart (optional)
Tap Text Labels (the tag icon) and turn on Notes to write the first 40 characters of the note under the name, or Attributes to list the tags.
