How to add a legend (key) to a genogram
The legend explains the symbols on your chart. It lists only what you have used, such as the relationship types, conditions and heritage patterns, with a count for each.
Works the same on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Step by step
- 1
Show the legend
On iPad and Mac, tap the Key button (the map icon) in the toolbar. Tap it again, or the × on the legend, to hide it.
- 2
Choose what it lists
Tap the gear on the legend to switch between one and two columns and to turn sections such as Gender, Status, Emotional, Heritage, Religion and Medical on or off.
- 3
Include it in an export
When you export a PDF, PNG or SVG, keep Include legend turned on.
Tips
Symbol reference
The Library button (the book icon) opens a full reference of every genogram symbol and line, which is handy when learning the notation.
