How to add a pet to a genogram

Pets can matter a great deal in a family system. Genogram Creator draws a pet as a hexagon and keeps its species and breed.

Works the same on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Step by step

Add a person for the pet
Tap Add Person in the toolbar, open Other Genders and choose Pet, then tap the canvas to place it. To turn someone you’ve already added into a pet, select them, tap the colored symbol at the top of the details panel and choose Pet.

Fill in Pet Details
A Pet Details section appears. Choose the Species (Dog, Cat, Bird, Rabbit, Reptile, Fish, Horse or Other) and type the Breed.

Connect the pet to the family
Give the pet a name and place it near its family. To show a bond, select a person, then drag from the red heart (Emotional Line) around them onto the pet.

Change a person’s gender, including trans, nonbinary and intersex symbols, and record orientation.
